JellyBeanstalk
Players take turns to grow the beanstalk, collecting their favourite flavour of jumbo jellybeans along the way. If you cause the beanstalk to come tumbling down then you'll lose beans. And you'll want to avoid the giant, not to mention those pesky bean bugs who love to eat jellybeans!
The beanstalk is built using cards and 'stalk' pieces. You collect beans if your chosen flavour is facing you. There are also 'story' cards that have special actions that can help or hinder you, such as removing or rotating a card on the beanstalk. The first player to collect 15 jellybeans of their flavour wins the game.
JellyBeanstalk first appeared way back in 2016 as a 'print and play' game that used cards and dice (for both rolling for actions and as the stalks). The size and weight of these components were critical for the balancing part of the game to work. Needless to say this proved to be a tricky requirement for a hand crafted, print at home, game.
This Game Crafter edition is a more streamlined and portable version of the game, with custom components and some new twists, designed to fit in a mint tin. The cards are mini (half poker size) and the stalks are wooden cylinders. The main mechanic of placing a leaf card and topping it with a stalk piece remains. But the dice have been ditched and everything else, from the rules and gameplay to the components, has been refined and tested to ensure the game works as intended.
The rules are included on the cards. They are also available as a free download.
